The G.D. Sanford Foundation

“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime.”
-Japanese Proverb

The G. D. Sanford Foundation, founded by Louis and Janice Brown, is built on the wisdom of that ancient proverb. Single and Multi-family real estate investors make affordable housing possible all across America in most communities. These unsung heroes help people to have housing and help local and national governments by taking old and dilapidated properties and updating them. These real estate investors provide jobs locally, purchase renovation and repair products locally, restore properties to the local tax rolls and offer that product at affordable prices to deserving families and individuals.

That’s a pretty powerful benefit to local communities. Doing that very thing locally allowed the Browns’ to create their foundation to help others. To help others learn how to fish they also created Street Smart® Systems StreetSmartInvestor.com to offer real estate investing education and mentoring to those who can benefit from a program designed to enhance the security, stability and future of the family by teaching individuals and families the business of real estate investing in affordable housing. Street Smart® clients learn the right way to buy and the right way to sell to provide win-win solutions for both property sellers and property buyers. Even if the only house bought is the family home, these efforts should impact that family positively for the future.

Not only is Real Estate investing and providing Affordable Housing throughout America supported, provided and taught, the G. D. Sanford Foundation also endeavors to help families in the Military, the homeless, Native Americans and others through its charitable giving. We believe government is only part of the solution and that local companies and individuals can produce powerful results to others on a grass-roots level.

Our focus is to change peoples’ lives for the better. Our mission is to support families through hard times as well. War, natural disasters, fire, homelessness, disease, death, financial problems, many things put stress on the family. We resolve to work with and to support organizations working to lessen strain on families due to a myriad of problems that affect family life, bonds, and strength. The Red Cross, Kiva.org, Habitat For Humanity, Nathans House, The Atlanta Food Bank, The Fraternal Order of Police are a few of the organizations our foundation has supported.

No matter what the problem, no matter what the disaster, in tough times, Americans depend on each other. This is the goal of our foundation, to be the neighbor that helps make a difference where you are, and to provide the community resources for when it takes more than family to get the problem solved. We strive to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.

We believe we can all make a difference for the better by pulling together to make this country stronger through strengthening families not by hand outs but by hand ups.
